October 25-27, 1984 in Volgograd hosted the ninth 1 traditional scientific conference of German historians. The conference was dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the GDR and was organized by the Volgograd Regional Branch of the Soviet Society for Friendship with the GDR, the Volgograd Regional Organization of the Znanie Society of the RSFSR, the Volgograd University, and the A. S. Serafimovich Volgograd Pedagogical Institute. The conference was attended by representatives of research centers, higher educational institutions, activists of the Soviet Society for Friendship with the GDR from 25 cities of the country, including Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev, Minsk, Odessa, Volgograd, Murmansk, Chita, Tomsk, as well as a delegation of the district board of the Society for German-Soviet Friendship of the Karl - Marx-Stadt district with which the Volgograd region and Volgograd are connected by friendly ties, headed by the board secretary K. Neumann and H. Biering-Professor of the E. Schneller Higher Pedagogical School in Zwickau, which maintains fruitful ties with the Volgograd Pedagogical Institute. Advisor of the GDR Embassy in the USSR G. Haubold took part in the conference and announced the greetings of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the GDR to the USSR E. Winkleman to the conference participants. The conference was the result of extensive preparatory work carried out jointly by the Volgograd Regional branch of the Soviet Society for Friendship with the GDR and the District Board of the Society for German-Soviet Friendship of the Karl-Marx - Stadt district.

The conference was opened by B. B. Vasilenko, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Volgograd Regional Council of People's Deputies, Chairman of the Volgograd regional branch of the Soviet Society for Friendship with the GDR, who noted that scientific conferences of German historians in Volgograd have become a good tradition, they have been held since 1969, scientists from the Institute of General History and the Institute of History of the USSR take part in them Academy of Sciences of the USSR, representatives of the Commission of Historians of the USSR and the GDR.

Davidovich - "Ernst Thalmann and the Soviet Union", Head of the sector of the Institute of Slavic Studies and Balkan Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences V. K. Volkov - "The international significance of education in the GDR and its role in strengthening the world socialist community", Head of the Department of the Institute Military History of the Ministry of Defense of the USSR V. V. Semin - "Military-political cooperation between the USSR and the GDR", member of the district board of the Society of German - Soviet Friendship of the Karl-Marx-Stadt district V. Ebertz - "Karl-Marx-Stadt and Volgograd: development and improvement of multilateral friendly relations".

The conference was continued in four sections. The first section was devoted to the problem of the revolutionary, democratic traditions of the German people. Presentations at the section were presented by: E. A. Dyatlov (Chernihiv)- "Studying the history of the Early bourgeois revolution in Germany in the GDR", Yu. A. Golubkin (Kharkiv)- "Contribution of GDR historians to the study and popularization of progressive traditions of the Peasant War and Reformation", N. G. Podolyak (Kiev)- "Reform movement in the cities of Northern Ukraine". V. A. Kozyuchenko (Volgograd) - "Revolutionary fighters of 1918-1919-harbingers of the new Germany", Yu. F. Boldyrev (Volgograd) - "From the history of the struggle of German internationalists in defense of the Republic of Soviets", R. M. Ilyukhina - "Democratic Traditions of the anti-war German movement of the 20s", G. N. Sapozhnikova - "The anti-militarist movement of the progressive intelligentsia of Germany in 1918-1933", A. A. Yamkova (Kommunarsk) - "The development of international relations between the working people of the USSR and Germany during the Weimar Republic", L. B. Sokolovskaya (Chita) - "The embodiment of the anti-colonial traditions of the German working class in the foreign policy of the GDR", A. I. Boroznyak (Lipetsk) - "Experience and lessons of cooperation between researchers and historians of the Soviet Union and the GDR".

The second section focused on the history of socialist construction in the GDR. Presentations were made by: H. Biering "Actual problems of building a developed socialist society in the GDR", F. I. Zhbanov (Volgograd) - "Improvement of the industrial structure of the GDR", I. D. Kustarev - "Cooperation of automobile manufacturers of the USSR and the GDR", E. N. Petrunin - " The Union of the working class and peasantry in the implementation of land reform in East Germany (1945-1948)", I. M. Ladyzhnikov (Leningrad) - "Social aspects of agricultural policy of the SED during the construction of a developed socialist society", N. F. Babantsev (Leningrad) - "Development of the state and law during the construction of developed socialism in the GDR", I. I. Kronwald (Nizhny Tagil) - "Political system of the GDR", Yu. M. Kurasov (Volgograd) - " From history of social and political symbols of the GDR", L. S. Tutik (Dnepropetrovsk)-"Activities of the Christian Democratic Union of the GDR to promote the ideas of peace and friendship between peoples", Yu. I. Yegorov (Kommunarsk) - "Using the CPSU experience of the SED in ideological work", N. P. Sheludchenko-"X Congress of the SED on the tasks of the Communist Party of the GDR". ideological activity of the party", B. D. Mushnikov (Volgograd) - "The work of the SED in educating the youth of the GDR in the spirit of socialist internationalism", E. A. Dmitriev - "Unity of the goals of the CPSU and the SED in the struggle against imperialist policies in developing countries", I. P. Fedina - "GDR-France: the Formation and development of relations", A. B. Chernov -" The impact of the GDR on the struggle of the working class in Germany", N. S. Papenko (Kiev) - "The influence of real socialism in the GDR on the socio-political development of Germany", T. V. Evdokimova (Leningrad) - "The attitude of the Green Party in Germany to the German Democratic Republic".

The third section dealt with the formation and development of fraternal friendship between the GDR and the USSR. Presentations were made by: G. V. Bogomolova (Kurgan)- " At the origins of friendship between the GDR and the USSR (1945-1949)", L. V. Malinovsky (Barnaul)- "From the experience of lecture work of employees of the Soviet Military Administration in Germany in 1947-1948", M. M. Zagorulko (Volgograd)- " X Congress of the SED and the development of economic cooperation of the GDR with the Soviet Union and other Socialist countries", G. K. Kokebaeva - "Economic cooperation of the GDR with the Soviet Republics of Central Asia", N. V. Stankov - "The attitude of Poland and Czechoslovakia to the formation of the GDR", F. G. Zuev - " The struggle of the USSR and the countries of the Socialist Commonwealth for international recognition GDR", A. I. Romanenko (Kiev) - "Activities of the GDR in the UN to ensure peace and security in Europe", N. G. Budkovsky - "The role of primary organizations of the Soviet Society of Friendship with the GDR in the development of the international socialist competition of workers of the USSR and the GDR", G. I. Tolstopyatova (Volgograd) - "From the experience of the International Organization of Friendship with the GDR". works with a community of students from the GDR at the Volgograd Medical Institute", R. Ya. Lavrov (Volgograd) - "Creative community of metallurgists of the Volgograd Aluminum Plant with metallurgists of a related enterprise-Bitterfeld Chemical Combine, GDR".

The fourth section was devoted to the problems of the historiography of the GDR, criticism of bourgeois and social-reformist falsifications of the history of the GDR. Reports were presented by: L. V. Germany in Social-reformist publications", L. N. Korneva (Kemerovo) - "Modern historiography of the GDR on the origin and formation of the Nazi Party", N. S. Cherkasov (Tomsk) - "Historiography of the GDR on the reasons for the establishment and essence of the fascist regime in Germany", G. A. Kosmach (Minsk) - "Research in the History of the Nazi Party". History of the bourgeois political parties of the Weimar Republic", I. A. Kukushkina - "Historians of the GDR on the ideology and politics of centrism in the German labor movement", B. S. Abalikhin (Volgograd) - "Criticism of West German bourgeois falsifiers of the history of the Battle of Stalingrad", L. A. Medvedev (Kalinin) - "Some questions of historiography of the anti-war movement in Germany".

The results of the scientific conference were summed up at the final plenary session, during which V. B. Vasilenko, G. Haubold, section heads made speeches. A wish was expressed to organize the next, tenth meeting of German historians in Volgograd in the spring of 1986, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Socialist United Party of Germany.
